North of Scotland SQA/WAMITAB Centre Transfer
21/09/2010
After a summer of preparation and negotiation SC Waste Management Limited has come to an agreement with Mr Douglas Miller to take over the management of the North of Scotland SQA/WAMITAB Centre with effect from the end of September 2010.
Douglas established the Centre with David Stephen in 1994 when it was one of the first such vocational centres in Scotland under the SQA/WAMITAB banner. David Stephen retired from the Centre in 2004 and from that point on Douglas took on the dual role of Head of Centre and SQA Centre Co-ordinator.
SC Waste Management Limited has had a long association with both Douglas and the Centre and we are delighted to reach agreement on the future of the Centre. Douglas had operated the Centre as a sole trader from his home office in Banff but it will now be administered from Largs in Ayrshire as a limited company - Trust Waste Management Limited.
Around 25 current candidates will transfer to the new Centre administration and Douglas will remain with the Centre until those candidates have been processed through the system to ensure continuity for the candidates.
Scott Crossett will with immediate effect take on the role of Head of Centre and Julie Crossett will be the new SQA Centre Co-ordinator. The immediate priority for the Centre is to ensure a smooth transition for the candidates and we have been working closely with SQA to ensure that this happens. There is also a need to update the WAMITAB website and their administrative records following the transition and we have been liaising with WAMITAB in this regard.
This is an excellent opportunity for SC Waste Management Limited to develop new business opportunities in the vocational training sector and it has invested considerable finances and energy into this new business development opportunity. At the present time we are working towards an e: portfolio system with our IT Expert and this will be combined with our new website for Trust Waste Management Limited. The full details of which will be announced later in November.
The new business model for the Centre will focus on opportunities overseas and in the development of industry specific customized awards.
